All our Barristers are Authorised and Regulated by the Bar Standards Board (‘the BSB’).

Our Barristers’ fees are on a fixed fee basis for Hearings and Conferences and either fixed fee or hourly rate for reading and drafting work, depending upon the complexities of the case, time required for preparation and travel and will be clearly set out in writing before instructions are accepted. The timescale for your case will depend upon the complexities, time required to review all paperwork and information, availability of Counsel and parties involved, hearing dates, court deadlines and the approach by the parties generally.

Please note that Foregate Chambers no longer undertakes CFA or Legal Aid work.

Some members are qualified to take instructions direct from the public under the Public Access Scheme. A Directory of participating barristers together with an explanation of how the Public Access Scheme works can be found on the Bar Council website Here

The BSB’s Barristers’ Register shows (1) who has a current practising certificate and (2) whether a barrister has any disciplinary findings, which are published on the Barristers’ Register in accordance with their policy. The link to the Barristers’ Register page Here

Catherine Johnston

Claims Handler at Bromley Holcroft Ltd

I attended mediation where Gavin Purves of Foregate Chambers (Barrister Clerking) acted on behalf of the potential Claimant. I was truly impressed with his professionalism, knowledge of the law and his composure throughout.  He achieved a better than predicted result for our client in very stressful and highly emotional circumstances.

"Foregate Chambers saves the day...again! That’s three times I’ve used you and three times you got the right and just result. You always have the right people for the right job 👍.Alistair Mitchell was A1 - now there’s an Order which I never thought we would get. Can’t thank you and Alistair enough.

Neil H

"I would just like to thank you for the hard work Mr Simon Collingham has done in representing me at court, after months of anxiety over my charge of failing to produce a specimen for analysis, Mr Collingham was, to say the very least, a true professional and a pleasure to meet even under such stressful circumstances, and his attention to every detail made the difference in having the trial dropped or me getting charged with something I felt strongly I should never have been. Again, I thank you for your efforts and good luck with all your future cases.

Jamie J

My appreciation and gratitude to Counsel, Mr Michael Conlon:  his professionalism, patience and ability to deal with such a case that gave him nothing to work with, was absolutely amazing and excellent in every way.  Although the CPS displayed inefficiencies and some incompetence, I don't believe the result would have been achieved without Mr Conlon's persistence and great attention to detail.  I can't thank him enough!”

KJ at MAJ Law

"At the court hearing, MAJ Law provided an amazing barrister.  His professionalism, advice, patience and ability to deal with such a case, was excellent in every way.  There is no way I could have argued with the prosecutor and police witness, who seemed to be surprisingly getting support from the court!  To them, I was guilty.  My barrister's persistence, great attention to detail, and unwillingness to allow any unfairness, is what won the case.  I cannot stress how grateful I am and that this was his win.”

Client JAA

I wanted to thank you for your help and support with my case. I have been really impressed with your service, very organized!  Counsel, Mr David Daniels, got me the result I needed after a very long day in court (we left at 8pm!) and I just wanted to thank you both.

Anna T

“Maura Logan represented me at Crown Court recently and was magnificent!  A very formidable and engaging character! Many thanks.

After being reported for a speeding offence by a police officer using a handheld radar device In January 2019, my solicitors contacted Foregate Chambers who assigned Simon Collingham (an expert barrister in motoring law) to represent me.  I cannot rate Simon highly enough, his depth of knowledge and analysis of the fine detail in his cross examination of the police officer highlighted the major undisclosed faults in evidence and procedure. It really was a brilliantly constructed cross examination. After submissions the Magistrates ruled no case to answer and defence costs were also awarded. I had been facing a disqualification for an offence I had not committed. I would like to thank Simon for his outstanding representation at Bromley Magistrates in August 2019 in relation to this speeding matter.  Without the help of Julia Vaughan at Foregate Chambers, followed up by the outstanding abilities of Mr Collingham, I have no doubt I would have been convicted.  I cannot thank you all enough. I would not hesitate to recommend your services.

Having been dragged into legal procedures relating to my children for more than 10 years and having to relocate often, I met many barristers and solicitors. I counted myself as very lucky to have found Foregate Chambers and Counsel Mr Nicholas Baker when dealing with procedures in the high court. The first thing that became apparent to me was Mr. Baker's enormous amount of knowledge and skill regarding family matters (my case was non-standard and included international law) combined with high mindfulness about what is the best for children. I was truly surprised by his high ethical norms and extreme helpfulness. I also found the Foregate Chambers' Clerk, Ms Julia L Vaughan, to be extremely helpful and polite. Additionally, I appreciated the truly straight, exact and fully accurate information from this Chambers relating to key points of the procedure, possible outcomes and the costs. In my experience, these are extremely rare characteristics of solicitors and barristers, hence this review; I hope it will help people find this excellent Barristers' Chambers quickly when assistance is needed.
