Kay is a Higher Rights Advocate with 8 years PQE. She has spent the last 7 years defending serious and complex trials in the Crown Court. Case types include: Murder/Manslaughter –(led by QC), S.39 to S.18 Assault offences, Theft to Boiler room fraud, Money Laundering, Robbery/Agg Robbery/ Agg Burglary, Serious sexual offences inc. historical child sex offences/indecent images, People trafficking/Modern Slavery, Drugs offences inc multi-handed conspiracies, Firearms Offences, Public Order/Affray, Traffic, Fly tipping, Breach of licence (publican).
Kay has regularly appeared in the Court of Appeal, and represented clients in Finding of Fact Hearings in the family courts.
Kay comes from a strong business background, having run her own companies for 20 years prior to qualifying as a solicitor. Her experience in accounting, VAT, and tax issues have stood her in good stead for some very complex fraud cases. Her invaluable life experience, common sense and analytical nature, coupled with strong investigative and advocacy skills, have led to enviable success, particularly with regards to sexual allegations.
Kay has represented Prison Law clients in adjudications, and applications for parole and re-categorisation.
