Oliver Rocos

Profile

Oliver was called to the Bar in 2008 and is a member of Lincoln’s Inn. He is currently developing his practice across all of chambers' main practice areas with a particular emphasis on commercial, employment and insurance work. He regularly appears in court on behalf of insurers in negligence, property, bankruptcy and other common law litigation.

In addition to attendance at court, Oliver regularly advises on matters as diverse as professional negligence, personal injury, contractual disputes, fraudulent claims and commercial defamation, most notably in Marathon Mutual Limited and Another v Mr David Waters and Another [2009] EWHC 1931. He also has considerable experience of contractual drafting for partnerships, corporate purchases and sub-binder agreements.

In addition to his own practice, Oliver has appeared as a junior on a wide range of insurance and commercial matters including multi-million pound International Arbitrations, shipping insurance litigation, financial disputes, and the recovery of foreign property. well as assisting in advising underwriters and mutuals.

Oliver has considerable experience in commercial law having spent an extended period before pupillage as an intern at 1 Essex Court, Chambers of Anthony Baldry, where he assisted on international arbitrations held in London and Paris, including the successful claim by Solgas against the Federal Government of Nigeria, the high profile international law cases of Apostolides v Orams and the litigation surrounding the sinking of The Prestige oil tanker off the coast of Spain in 2002
