Profile

During his pupillage year, Iqbal undertook work related to all aspects of Healthcare Law, Public Law (education and local authorities) and Employment Law.  He undertook his pupillage at the legal branch of the then Department of Works and Pensions; the legal branch provides legal advice to the Department of Health. Iqbal also undertakes Immigration, Personal Injury, Clinical and Professional Negligence cases and Landlord & Tenant Disputes. 

Iqbal has considerable experience of undertaking in-depth reviews/investigations of untoward incidents, giving evidence in a Coroner’s Court, and investigations into complaints of poor performance. He has undertaken over 20 reviews into deaths in custody on behalf of the Prisons & Probations Ombudsman and have given evidence at a number of inquests.  

Iqbal’s is a qualified general medical practitioner and is an expert advisor in patient safety and clinical governance, involving him in the performance of PCTs and NHS Trusts. Iqbal is on both the General Practice and Specialist Registers of the General Medical Council.
