Alistair was called to the Bar in 1997 and is a member of Middle Temple.

Alistair enjoys a crime, family and common law practice. Criminal work encompasses gang-related murder and historical sex abuse cases. Family work spans child care, contact and residence, adoption. TLATA and ancillary relief.

Civil cases include matters relating to judicial reviews, Protection From Harassment Act, Employment disputes, Personal Injury, the Freedom of Information Act and IP. He is also happy to tackle Claimant or Defendant briefs in the ever-changing world of credit hire litigation.

He is accredited under the Public Access Scheme for direct instructions and has handled cases relating to building disputes and dilapidations under the Scheme.

Alistair is sensitive to the needs of vulnerable clients and witnesses and is particularly interested in criminal and civil cases in respect of care homes for the elderly. Above all, he enjoys the opportunity to delve into the heart of a case - and relishes cross-examination.

Prior to being called to the Bar, he worked in housing and worker co-operatives for many years. Inspiration to study law stemmed from the Poll Tax Riot in 1990, during which he was arrested and subsequently jailed.

Whilst a mature student he helped found the Trafalgar Square Defendants' Campaign and served on the board of Brixton Community Law Centre. The case became something of a minor cause celebre,
